This weekend we made the trek to Farmers, Ky. I now have my own little shop in a huge antique mall. We did not get much accomplished as far as decorating goes but hopefully this week we will get all things squared away and decorated. I am truly excited about this as I have dabbled in this stuff for quite a while. I have another little shop that is strictly in another shop and I sell on consignment but this is all my stuff in this little corner of the world. That is actually what it is an 11 x 13 corner of the world. This shop is in an old schoolhouse in Farmers, Ky around Morehead, Ky around the Cave Run Lake area. Saturday we priced and priced, Aidan was dirty from all the sitting in the floor, trying to eat everything he could and Gage was completely and utterly bored out of his mind. Hopefully days to come will not be so bad as we got the bulk of the stuff in there.
October is a favorite time of the year for me. My birthday is in October, Gage's birthday is in October, my dad's birthday is in October, my best friend who passed away from breast cancer her birthday was in October, my beloved uncle whose truck fell on him a few years ago, his birthday was in October, and the list goes on and on. Do you think all babies are born in October. Sure seems like it. I guess those winter months people were kind of busy while stuck in the house, LOL. Anyway, the 1st giveaway is in honor of breast cancer awareness month. This is for Tina who died at the young age of 32. Tina was a wonderful person and a friend I will always cherish. I miss not having her here to talk to daily. I miss getting to share Aidan with her. Tina fought her cancer with a strength beyond compare. She never go up fighting. Her faith was stronger when she passed away than ever. When we go through valleys God will always bring you out stronger than when you went it. So, in honor of Tina and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the 1st giveaway is a breast cancer awareness necklace. I hope all who enter the contest wear this with pride and in remembrance of Tina and in remembrance of someone you might know who is fighting breast cancer or has lost their battle with breast cancer.
All you need to do to enter is leave me a comment. The comments for this will end at midnight on Friday, October 9, 2009, with a new giveaway to start that day in honor of my dad so keep checking back. The giveaways will get better and better, I promise.

I know this is not a great picture, but I don't have a macro lens for my camera yet. This is a cute little necklace, probably 18 to 20 inches in length but is adjustable with the clasp closure. It has the breast cancer logo with pink little stones in the breast cancer logo
Oh how fun to have your own little shop! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI love the fact you are honoring this for your friend! So touching...
Awesome Giveaway for the month of October!
Teresa, My friend, an elderly lady who had fought breast cancer once with a vengeance, but ended up with it returning even more vehemently, passed away yesterday after a battle with meatatastic (sp) breast cancer of 2 years. She was such a warrior, I went to see her last week, and my neighbor (who has backslid) went with me. The little lady who couldn't hardly open her eyes and look at us, much less speak, prayed for our backslid friend. She was such a great christian light in my life. If I win, I will wear this in her honor.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Glenda is 8 years out; she's a fighter that girl. My friend Lily is currently in the battle. My friend and yours, Tina, is no longer with us, but my God that girl fought like nobody's business didn't she! what a heart for God!! and how many lives has she saved by being so open about her fight. I know of at least 4 women who began having mammos because of Tina's story, and they have all since found tumors early enough to save themselves. Now that's a legacy!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great necklace. Cancer in all forms is such a tragedy. Both of my grandfathers died of cancer, my aunt survived breast cancer, and another aunt is fighting right now. She was given 6 months to live almost 2 years ago. She continues to have chemo and other high doses of radiation treatment weekly, but she's still with us so we are so greatful for that.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway for Breast cancer month and in honor of all those we have lost.
Hey! I found you from MckMama's blog!
ReplyDeleteThat is fantastic that you have your own little piece of your dream to work with. Going out on your own is always scary and exciting. Best wishes to you.
Breast cancer is an amazing cause to fight for. Everyone knows one (or two, or three) people personally who it has affected and robbed of some part of their life.
This has inspired me to do a give-away on my blog of some kind for breast cancer as well... Thank you!
I was at homeschooling seminar on health and the lady running the class was in her 50's she told us that when she was in her first year of nursing the question was asked how many of you know someone who has had cancer? 3 hands went up...she asked the same question to us over 30 years later every hand in the room went up. Too many people fight this disease. My prayers are with all of these ladies and their family and all who are touched by this awful disease.
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful giveaway!
Blessings to you!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I just now noticed you have this blogspot! It's pretty awesome and so is the old school house antique place. I used to go there all the time when I lived in Morehead!
